Today’s announcement sees Victoria has record 208 new COVID-19 cases and 17 deaths.
The Covid-19 tally within the Greek Community of Melbourne stands at 84 while the total number of deaths in Victoria’s aged care facilities alone has reached 300.
It is mainly elderly members of the community with underlying health issues.
At the same time, Queensland has identified two more cases relevant to the youth detention centre cluster and authorities are tracking down young inmates who were released from custody before the outbreak was identified.
Meanwhile, one new case of COVID-19 has been diagnosed in South Australia with the woman that tested positive being identified as a recently returned nurse who was employed in aged care facilities in Victoria.
According to Chief Public Health Officer Nicola Spurrier, the woman who is asymptomatic is in quarantine and her eight close contacts – all nurses who travelled back with her – are quarantining as well.
