Irish raider Twilight Payment has won the Melbourne Cup, followed by Tiger Moth and Prince of Arran.
The Irish-trained galloper made every post a winning marker as he took the lead soon after the start.
The other favourites, Cox Plate winner Sir Dragonet, and Caulfield Cup winner Verry Elleegant, were able to get involved in the finish.
Epson Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck broke down during the race. The Irish stallion was euthanised after the race.
