Restrictions will ease across Victoria after two days without any locally transmitted cases of COVID-19.

Victoria’s Acting Premier James Merlino and Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton gave some good news during Wednesday’s anticipated press conference.

“Today we are taking some big steps forward,” Mr Merlino said.

New eased restrictions will apply from 11.59pm tomorrow. These include public gatherings of up to 50 people outdoors, gatherings in the home will be permitted, with up to 15 visitors to a home per day, including dependants and funerals and weddings can move to a cap of 300 people, subject to the density limits of the venue.

“We all want to be back at birthday parties, barbecues at home, to see friends, to explore the coast, the regions, and take the kids on a trip somewhere,” Mr Merlino said.

“We did want to provide as much certainty as we can today for the easing of restrictions, particularly as the next couple of weeks will be school holidays.”

The working from home recommendation has been removed, and offices will be allowed up to 75 per cent capacity or up to 30 people.
