Reservoir United SC capped off a stellar season by clinching the Victorian Metro 7 Northwest league title in 2024, celebrating their success with a lively presentation night at Local Brewing Co. in Clifton Hill. With players, coaches, and supporters in attendance, the club honoured the players whose dedication and teamwork carried them to victory.

Dean Polydoros was the player of the night, walking away with three medals: Best and Fairest, Players’ Player, and the coveted Golden Boot. Reflecting on the season, Polydoros shared, “It was such a great season; the boys were so good. In training, we worked on so many things that we implemented in the games, and that showed. We were consistent, confident, and went into games to win.”

Goalkeeper Philippe Moutis secured the Golden Glove and shared his drive to continue his role in goal. “I am very competitive, and my passion overflows at times. I get angry, but we are all there to win,” said Moutis, embodying the grit and determination that defined Reservoir United’s season.

Club Captain Michael Petridis, the team’s longest-serving senior player, celebrated not just the team’s success but also the club’s cultural diversity. “We all represent different cultures, and we all speak different languages, but we are united in our quest to do well,” he told Neos Kosmos.

Petridis also highlighted the club’s commitment to expanding its women’s program, an aspiration shared by many on the team.

Cory Thompson took home the Coaches’ Award, while Abdikan Mohamed earned the club medallist honour in his debut season. Mohamed expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am so happy to have played with the club. It is my first season, and I am playing well with my fellow team members.”

Assistant Coach and Committee Member Tasso Kapetopoulos praised the players’ collective efforts and expressed enthusiasm for growing the club’s youth development and female participation. Vice President and Senior Coach Michael Gennaccaro echoed this optimism, acknowledging the presentation night as a “celebration of both on-field success and the values underpinning the team’s future.”

“It was a great year from the senior program, which we believe has set the foundation and principles in place to grow for 2025,” said Gennaccaro.

The 2024 season will be remembered as one where skill, spirit, and cultural unity came together to lift Reservoir United SC to new heights, leaving both the team and their supporters eager for what’s next.
