Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison was unable to attend the Lonsdale Street Greek Festival last month, but he did come to see the work of the Greek Centre and discuss issues of interest to Greeks.

Mr Morrison  met with Bill Papastergiadis, the President of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria, during to his visit. He managed to get a glimpse into the classrooms where Greek lessons are taught and enjoyed a tour of the facilities.

Mr Papastergiadis and other officials briefed him on the needs of Greeks living in Australia and he discussed issues of interest to Greek expats.

He sampled Greek cuisine, but also took part in some traditional Greek dancing – specifically the tsamiko.
