Greeks may be suffering from an economic crisis that has left most households cash-strapped and debt-stricken, however the Aegean island of Mykonos beats to the beat of another drum.

An American tourist from Brooklyn has left in a state of shock when he asked for the bill at the end of a meal at a seaside restaurant at Platis Gialos beach. He visited the restaurant in May 2019 and was charged 98.5 euros for a portion of calamari. He then took to tripadvisor to warn other tourists to avoid the place that charged him 836.20 euros for 6 portions of calamari, 6 beers, 3 salads and a tomato juice. The juice alone was 18 euros for a glass.

The same site also had other tourists complaining about the same restaurant that charges 10 euros for a double Greek coffee, 15 euros for a can of soft drink, 9.80 euros for tzatziki dip and so forth.
