A missing woman and her daughter from Katerini have been found dead in a gorge.

The 45-year-old mother and her daughter, 17, had been missing for just over a week when they were found on Sunday in Pieria, a remote region in central Macedonia.

The gorge, located near the area of Fotina, is 120 metres deep.

Their lifeless bodies were found next to a car by police officers, firemen and members of the EMAK rescue team, reports AMNA.

Police were alerted to the two women’s disappearance on Saturday 9 November, when a report was made by the husband and father at the police station in Katerni.

He reportedly told police that the previous day he had received a call from his wife who said that she was leaving him, and taking their daughter with her.
