Actress Emma Stone is in Athens to work again with award-winning Greek director Yiorgos Lanthimos – this time on a short film that will be exclusively filmed in Greece.

Mr Lanthimos directed The Favourite which garnered numerous awards last year including an Academy Award for the lead actress Olivia Colman and nominations for Ms Stone and Mr Lanthimos. Ms Stone won the academy award for best actress for La La Land in 2016.

She was in the Greek capital on Thursday to talk to Mr Lanthimos about a new project that also stars French actor Damien Bonnard.

Details of the film are not forthcoming although Deadline reports that the project is part of an installation that will be accompanied a live orchestra to be presented in May at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre in Athens.

The film project is the second in a series, The Artist on the Composer, made in a collaboration between the Greek National Opera and NEON, a not-for-profit art organisation. The first in the series was the work of artist Niko Navridis.

The short-film series is financed by grants from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation to promote Greek National Opera’s artistic outreach programmes.

Meanwhile, paparazzi photographers are reportedly following Ms Stone around Athens to take pictures of her diamond ring following her announcement that she was engaged to marry Dave McCrary.
