Fans of Giota Negka have much to be excited about; the singer is coming to Australia for the first time ever this month.

She will be doing three performances, the first at the Factory Theatre in Sydney on Wednesday 26 February.

To follow, Negka will perform live at the Lonsdale Street Greek Festival on Saturday 29 February, after which she will return to Sydney for the Greek Festival at Darling Harbour on Sunday 1 March.

Born in Athens, Negka released her first album and hit song Με τα μάτια κλειστά (With Eyes Closed) in 2003. Since then she has gone on to dominate the entehno and contemporary laiko scene.

Venturing to Australia later in the year is Haroula Tsalpara.

She will be performing alongside Wayne Simmons and Con Kalamaras at the Caravan Music Club on Friday 21 April.

Tsalpara is part of the new emerging generation of talent in Greece exploring rebetika and smyrneika. Hailed as the modern-day Roza Eskenazi or Rita Abatzi, she has made a name for herself playing at major events in Greece and festivals throughout Europe.
