Social media users around the world are showing their solidarity to Greece in the border crisis with Turkey using the hashtag phrases #IstandwithGreece and #Greece_under_attack.
Trending on social media, these hashtags support Greece’s attempt to defend its territory from what is described as an ‘invasion’ of thousands of people from the northeastern land borders with Turkey at Evros and the islands.
Social media users are blaming Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan while also blaming him for exacerbating the refugee crisis in Syria.

Videos, photos and media reports have been posted on social media with many users blasting the Turkish military for distributing tear gas to refugees to hurl at Greek police on the other side of the border. There is criticism of Europe for failing to stand by Greece.
