“We’ve just celebrated our first birthday in September, and we’re full of gratitude for all the love and support we received during our first year of operation from all our foodie friends and the wider community from across Australia. We sincerely wanted to give back and contribute to a good cause that can affect any Australian at any point in time, and that’s how this initiative came to life.”

Mr Dachris said the campaign had been inspired by the story of Greek cooking doyen Kathy Tsaples who survived her battle with breast cancer.

“Kathy’s Sweet Greek story has really touched us all. From the discovery of “just a cyst” to beating an aggressive Stage-3 breast cancer, she made the decision to pursue her passion for cooking, as she was only given a few years to live. She explains how much BCNA supported her from the diagnosis and throughout her journey to this day, 10 years on,” said Mr Dachris.

He added that olive oil was key to the healthy Mediterranean diet, and that high phenolic olive oil played a role in fighting cancer cells in humans.
