Members and supporters of the Lemnos Gallipoli Commemorative Committee gathered at the Lemnos Gallipoli Memorial in Lemnos Square, Albert Park, on Sunday as dawn rose on Anzac Day.

This is the first time that the Committee has held a Dawn Service.

The gathering was held to remember the sacrifices of all our servicemen and women during past and present conflicts, including those who served on Lemnos in 1915 and in Greece in 1941.

They were joined by Port Phillip City Council representatives, friends and neighbours.

Committee President Lee Tarlamis OAM MP laid a wreath on behalf of the Committee as part of the service.

The memorial at Lemnos Square commemorates the nurses and soldiers who served on the Greek Island of Lemnos during the Gallipoli campaign in 1915 during World War One, and the role of Lemnos in the campaign and was erected on 8 August, 2015, the centenary of the arrival of the Australian nurses on Lemnos during the Gallipoli campaign.
