Western Sydney have added yet another Greek-Australian to their squad this season with the loan signing of Dimitri Petratos.

Dimitri Petratos will join the WSW on a season-long loan from Saudi Arabian side Al-Wehda, where he scored 10 goals from 28 games.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder will be representing the Wanderers after successful spells at rival A-League clubs Sydney FC, Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets.

In a statement released by the Club, Petratos announced his delight at playing for his hometown club.

“I’ve always wanted to play for the Wanderers but always something else popped up. So now it’s finally time for me to play for the team where I grew up,” Petratos said.

“I’m not coming back to just be with my family and be in a comfort zone. I’m coming back to work hard. I want to win titles. I want to win the Grand Final. I want to come back and help the team achieve that stuff.”

“We welcome another Western Sydney boy back to the club for the 2021/22 season and we are excited to see what Dimi can bring to the club with his wealth of experience and leadership qualities,” WSW CEO John Tsatsimas said.

Petratos is already familiar with many faces at the club, including recent return signing, Terry Antonis.

“Terry Antonis, we are childhood family friends and we have known each other since we were five,” Petratos said.

Wanderers head coach, Carl Robinson, is very excited about the signing and what it will bring to the club.

“Dimi has a great work ethic and understands what it takes to play in the A-League. He’s a naturally gifted footballer and will bring something special to our group of players which I am sure our fans and members will appreciate,” he said

Petratos adds to the plethora of Greek-Australian talent at Western Sydney such as Tass Mourdoukoutas, James Troisi and recent signings Terry Antonis and Johnny Koutroumbis.
