Social enterprise Food For Everyone has partnered with restaurateur of acclaimed Brisbane-based Greek restaurant Hellenika, Simon Gloftis, to transform his recipe for htapodi into a limited-edition print.

Food banks across Australia will be receiving 50 per cent of the of the profits to help those who need it most, with each poster sale contributing to 90 meals.

In the recently released Food Bank 2021 Hunger Report found that one in six adults hadn’t had enough to eat in the past year and one in three people struggling to meet food needs are new to this situation, having not experienced food insecurity before.

The print joins a series of four other prints, shaped by individual cultures, perspectives and stories surrounding food including collaborations with  Guillaume Brahimi (Bistro Guillaume, SBS Plat Du Tour), Emiko Davies (Florentine, Tortellini at Midnight) and Jessica Nguyen (home cook).

The ‘htapodi’ print was inspired by the beautiful Mediterranean seaside eateries, enjoying the sun and sipping on ouzo.

“The smell of octopus on the chargrill immediately transports me to summers spent in Greece. We use South Australian octopus at Hellenika – it’s simply the best,” Mr Gloftis said.

The restaurateur started out with a humble corn on the cob stall in Brisbane 25 years ago, before pioneering Brisbane’s burgeoning dining scene, leading with his esteemed Hellenika.

The restaurant is set to launch an all-vegetarian Mediterranean eatery ‘Sunshine’.
