The Greek Australian Cultural League of Melbourne (GACLM) will hold its annual general meeting (AGM) and will also launch this year’s edition of the bilingual periodical, “Antipodes”, on Friday, 17 December at the premises of the Panarcadian Association of Melbourne and Victoria in North Melbourne.

The GACLM said in a statement that since its inception 48 years ago, “Antipodes” has featured the works of Greek-Australian writers and artists in either English or Greek whose contribution to the maintenance of the Greek culture and literature is assured.

“Every year, the periodical is dedicated to a well-known person in the Greek-Australian Diaspora who has contributed to the promotion of the Greek letters or the Greek culture in various ways.

“This year we have dedicated the periodical to the commemoration of the 200 years of the Liberation of Greece from Ottoman Rule,” said the GACLM.

The results of the of the Literary Competition 2021 which attracted works in Greek and English of writers of Greek origin residing in Australia will also be announced.

The GACLM said that the event will be held in accordance with the applicable restrictions of COVID-19. Only fully vaccinated will be allowed to attend and everyone will be required to wear a mask.
