As Australians will soon be heading off to enjoy their first European summer since the pandemic began, for those left behind, the Daily Telegraph featured the venues opening in Sydney, that re-imagine the Greek island experience.

Restaurateurs, it seems, are aware of the pent-up desire for travel and a change of scenery within the community, and have moved to recreate in their space the warm European hospitality, drawing inspiration from the beautiful Greek islands and the Mediterranean.

In the Southern suburbs of Sydney of Carss Park and Brighton-Le-Sands, where the upcoming Greek festival will be held in May, the iconic restaurant “Meet the Greek” has relaunched, adding a warm and friendly touch to its setting that will feature the traditional tastes from the village.

Earlier in the year, at the redeveloped dining strip at The Rocks, Greek-Australian chef, Peter Conitsis, opened his restaurant Ploos which offers open air dining as experienced in the Greek islands, with a menu derived from the South Aegean.
