Since 2019, Vass Trangolas has dedicated her life to helping her little boy Ziggy recover from a benign tumour near his brain. This experience instilled in her a deep desire to understand the human body at a cellular level, leading her on a passionate journey of learning, determination, and love.

“As a mother, my priority was to support my son’s physical and emotional well-being, so I devoted myself to studying the most effective ways to promote rapid healing and detoxification,” Vass explains. She pursued a diploma in herbalism and nutrition, delving into epigenetics, cancer nutrition, and natural hygiene, as well as exploring the Gerson method. Through this journey, she gained a profound understanding of the body’s ability to heal when given the right nutrients and support.

A LONG SCARY JOURNEY

Watching her little boy thrive under this natural approach, Vass felt compelled to share her knowledge with others. Thus, her brand, V Apothecary, was born. The brand represents for her a journey of love and determination, where she says that only the highest quality natural ingredients are used to create products that support longevity and the body’s natural healing process, crafted with the same care and attention that she gives to her son’s wellbeing.

Vass Trangolas knows firsthand how frightening it can be to receive a diagnosis, but she also knows that taking charge of one’s health and adopting a nutritional approach can make a significant difference. This is why she is passionate about sharing her knowledge with others and assisting them in their journey toward health and healing.

Vass’s life journey has taken her down a different professional path. Born to Cypriot parents in London, she relocated to Australia at the age of 10. She later developed a passion for art and fashion which led her to become one of Australia’s most successful stylists, both nationally and internationally.

However, Vass explains that her shift toward health and wellness was “written in her DNA,” as she hails from a family of health and wellness professionals. Her father, Phanos Trangolas, a Chinese medical doctor, did play a large part in Ziggy getting well, with acupuncture and homeopathy. Trangolas has been awarded the Grandfather of Medicine in Australia Award for his work at Body Wise Clinic. Her aunt practices medicine overseas, and her cousins run a clinic in Limassol.

“My aunty, Diana- Xeni, is a huge mentor even though she lives overseas. She is my biggest expander and supporter for what I’m doing,” Vass highlights.

“For 20 years I was a fashion stylist, and I travelled the world for that. It took me everywhere and I am forever grateful. I went to Georgia. I went to Milan. I went to the UK. Then came a traumatic divorce. Many changes…that led to meeting my new partner and getting pregnant at 38 with my second child. I have a 21-year-old son, Anton Arvanitis; my two children are the loves of my life…

I was really sick throughout my pregnancy and the doctors prescribed me a medication that had a toxic effect. I could hardly keep any food down,” she explains.

LIFE TAKES ANOTHER TURN

During that time, Vass experienced the collapse of her old self, her identity that relied on the approval of others, finding the new trend, getting the most likes.

“Styling in the fashion world is like if you’re constantly chasing something that’s not authentic. One moment you are on a high, the next you are stressing to create for the sake of putting something original out there that might even be imitating something else. Something dies in the moment. At least that’s how I felt. It’s not a healthy, sustainable life especially in today’s hectic social media environment.”

As a mother, she instinctively knew that something was wrong with her child, but doctors refused to believe her, she says, insisting that she was delusional.

Despite being sent to multiple psychologists over three years, Vass continued to seek alternative opinions until a microscopic tumour was discovered during a scan. The tumour had grown to five centimetres, blocking her child’s nasal passage, and required invasive surgery that lasted 11 hours. The surgery involved removing her child’s eye from his cheekbone, and due to the rarity of the condition, Vass and her family were uncertain whether they would get their little boy back. This journey occurred in 2020 during the pandemic.

As Vass reflects on her child’s recovery, she recalls his adverse reactions to various medications, antibiotics, radiation, and heavy metals from CT scans. Vass felt the need to alleviate her child’s pain from these drugs and began questioning the ingredients in the products she was using. Her research led her to discover numerous harmful chemicals in baby care products, often masked under simple descriptions like “fragrance,” and potentially carcinogenic herbicides in plant-based products.

Her interest in natural remedies and minimising the use of harmful ingredients prompted her to immerse herself in the study of naturopathy. With the guidance of her father, she delved into epigenetics, biochemistry, nutrition, and homeopathic remedies. “The more I studied, the more I got my power, so power as a mother, the more I knew and understood his body and what was happening. And then when you understand what’s happening you are not afraid anymore because. That’s when God comes in,” she says.

SHARING THE GIFT OF NATURE

“Of course I respect Western medicine and science and different modalities work as a combination but everything is energy. I grew up Greek Orthodox, our bodies are temples. It is the same in every religion. To me spirituality, whether it is religion, mythology, ancient remedies are all ancient knowledge that we are now decoding and relearning through science.”

“I am also exploring the harmful effects of synthetic radiation and food on our bodies, and looking at the scientific evidence supporting these beliefs. Through my work, I have seen positive results, such as my child’s healing. I know firsthand how terrifying a diagnosis can be, but I also know that empowered action and a nutritional approach can change your life. That’s why I’m passionate about sharing this knowledge with others and helping them on their own journey to health and healing.”

Vass, focused on sourcing organic foods that had ingredients that had been scientifically proven to affect or reduce tumours, while she started infusing her own oils and cremes for the body. The family even decided to leave the city and move to the Yarra Valley, on four acre’s of land, and on that land V Rose Apothecary was born.

“I am proud to say that V Apothecary is the result of this journey of love and determination. We use only the finest natural ingredients to create products that support longevity and the body’s natural healing process. Our products are crafted with the same care and attention that I give to my own son’s wellbeing.”

Return to nature is the message from Vass, who emphasises that our ancestors knew what they were doing.
