Topikos Dining Room & Bar, a prominent Greek diner in Bondi, will be closing its doors in September, making room for a new pub operated by the Ryan hospitality group that recently acquired the space.

The Ryan family, that are taking over the coveted Campbell Parade location plan to transform the elegant and spacious venue into a traditional pub, complete with a sports bar.

Despite its short 15-month tenure, the high-end Bondi eatery is following a recent trend of upscale restaurants shutting down in the eastern Sydney suburb, with Fonda and Drake being among the latest casualties.

Even though the new openings are expected to attract a younger crowd Topikos had been one of the most loved and frequented eateries in the area for a large, diversified clientele that described it as “a slice of Mykonos in Bondi”.

The food, the cocktails, the service, as well as the live music at the venue was highly rated.

Topikos, owned and managed by the Point Hospitality Group, has made its mark in Sydney’s culinary scene with other successful establishments, including the CBD rooftop restaurant and bar Shell House and the popular Dolphin in Surry Hills.

Additionally, the group is set to launch an ambitious hospitality project on Fort Denison in Sydney Harbour later this year.
