The Cyprus Community of Melbourne & Victoria (CCMV) is again holding its fourth annual Halloumi Festival, with a two-day event in early March.
Brunswick will be home to the festival, which has quickly become a highlight in the Melbourne calendar of events.
The festival celebrates arguably Cyprus’ most famous food product, halloumi, which has now become a staple in cuisines around the world. In Australia most cafés or venues offer the cheese on its menu in some capacity.
More than just about cheese though, the festival is a celebration of Cypriot culture, with dance, music and a narrative on the history of Cypriots in Australia.
Other inclusions at this year’s Halloumi Festival will include cooking demonstrations and traditional cheese making, children’s activities and haloumi-based products for tasting and purchase.
It is also expected that a large number of leaders from the community, businesses and other organisations will attend the halloumi festival.
Thousands are expected to flock in to get a taste of Cyprus.

Meanwhile two weeks later, those in Brisbane will also have the chance to eat, drink, dance and party like a Cypriot at the Cyprus Halloumi Cultural Festival.
Halloumi, Souvla, Sheftalies, Koupes, Loukoumades and more will be available, while for music, Melbourne band AETOS will be playing some classic Greek and Cypriot tunes throughout the day and night.
The Cypriot Youth Brisbane Dance Group will also be performing traditional dances.
There will be cooking demonstrations, Cypriot culture exhibitions, raffle prizes to be won at the event held by the Cypriot Community Association of Queensland.
