Greek Australian electronic dance-pop artist VASSY (Vassy Karagiorgos) is in Darwin these days spending time with family and celebrating her latest success: hitting number one on the US dance charts.

Her track Pieces climbed up the charts taking the number one position as the most added dance track and played song at dance radio in the US as of the last week of January.

Described as an uplifting house track, it bears the production signature of US duo Bingo Players and Dutch electro house producer Disco Fries.

The Greek Darwin girl made the move to the US years ago to pursue an international career as a songwriter-musician and hasn’t looked back since.

Among VASSY’s recent career milestones was surpassing 2 billion streaming views across platforms with her single ‘Bad’.

That was back in April 2022, during the artist’s latest trip to birthplace Darwin to visit family.

Her much-longed stay in Australia after the pandemic hiatus had culminated in a joyous life event with her marriage to Greek-American soulmate, Panayioti.

“Married life doesn’t change much for me in terms of my career,” she had then commented in an interview.

And judging from the latest success of her Pieces hit she did mean it.

“I wanted to share my exciting news with you,” she told Neos Kosmos commenting on the achievement.

Catch VASSY performing next at the Sydney WorldPride 2023 running 17 February to 5 March.
